Supporting Our Local Youth: Attending Walton High’s Duke of Edinburgh Information Evening
Posted on 16th October 2024 at 15:53
We had a fantastic time attending the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) parents' information evening at Walton High Brooklands Campus recently. Our Parish Manager, Corinne Neenan, Deputy Manager, Lynn Maddocks, and Councillor Yemi Olayemi were all in attendance to learn more about how students can get involved in the DofE scheme and what they need to achieve in order to earn their Bronze certificates.
It was inspiring to hear about the various stages of the award process and how students can sign up to take on this incredible journey. To be awarded their Bronze certificate, participants need to commit to several key areas: volunteering, physical activities, skills development, and an expedition.
We were especially excited to talk to parents and students about how easy it is to complete the volunteering portion of the award with us at Broughton and Milton Keynes Parish Council. We highlighted our litter-picking program, where students can simply borrow litter-picking equipment from us and head out to tidy up their local area. It’s a simple and rewarding way to get those valuable volunteering hours while also helping take care of the environment!
If you’re a local student looking for a volunteering opportunity to fulfill your DofE requirements, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. We’re here to help and would love to support you on your journey to achieving your Bronze award!
